But Joy cometh in the morning…

How can a year be soo great and so frustrating all at the same time! I’m excited and afraid all at once. So watching one of the news channels this morning(just pick one, they all say the same thing) I was excited to hear that Corey Booker is running in 2020! I could literally dance right now. I was on top of the world when the amazing Senator Kamala Harris announced throwing her hat in the ring. Now we have 2 real candidates! It’s fine time to be alive when you have viable candidates who want to serve their country and got the resume to do it!

YES YALL! These are more than qualified candidates who show a passion for service at all times without senseless catchphrases or pointless soundbites that can be remembered but mean nothing.

Senator Harris is an attorney that has served as Attorney General for California from 2011-2017. A Howard Law Grad with nothing but stellar career. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc( skee wee). Harris platform focus is on issues THAT MATTER such as immigration reform, enacting family leave and equal pay policies, universal pre-kindergarten for children, addressing climate change and fixing the criminal justice system. You know those issues affect everyone, not just one group of people. On top of her stellar career and diverse platforms, she seems like a genuine person about change. WHAT A BREATH OF FRESH AIR! Cuz the air has been thick and stale with all of the political drama of the last 2 years.

Corey Booker is the first African-American U.S. Senator from New Jersey. He was previously the 36th Mayor of Newark from 2006 to 2013. Booker is a Yale Grad who moved to Newark after Grad school to start a non-profit organization to provide legal services for low-income families. Booker’s nonprofit helped tenants battle slumlords, improve living conditions, and stay in their homes. In other words… THESE FOLKS RIGHT HERE AIN’T NO SLAW! They are highly qualified and got THA JUICE! It’s going to be a refreshing political year. I think that we are all due to a more refined election experience since the prior presidential year left much to be desired…by both parties. I’m hoping with these new fresh faces comes some new fresh leadership or at least a wider vocabulary and better hair.
